A premium quality pool cover is an investment that will last for many years. That's why you shouldn't make your decision based solely on appearance or price. We've put together 10 questions to help you think through the most important aspects so that you can really choose the best pool cover for you. The choice is not easy, but we'll help you choose the most suitable one for you! Low or high? Polycarbonate or glass? Manual or motorized? By the time you ask yourself these questions, you probably already know one thing for sure: you want a pool cover. However, choosing the right model is not always easy. A pool cover will be part of your garden for many years, so it's worth considering some important aspects before making a decision. We've put together 10 questions to help you navigate and find the pool cover that meets all your criteria. https://youtu.be/BMv0cYGnJjo With more than 15 years of experience and thousands of manufactured pool covers across Europe. 1. Premium pool cover or simple pool cover? If you are thinking about covering your pool, you will come across several solutions: from solar cover foil to slatted pool covers to premium aluminum profile pool covers. Although they all serve to cover the pool, their function and the benefits they provide differ significantly. Aspect Solar cover foil Pool cover Premium pool cover Heat retention Good Good Excellent Protection against dirt Limited Good Excellent Extension of the swimming season Limited Limited Excellent Child safety No Depends on type Yes Protection against weather No Limited Yes Swimming under cover No No Yes (for high types) Price $ $$ $$$ 2. Low or high pool cover? Many people first choose based on the shape, although the height of the cover also determines everyday use. Low cover: discreet appearance, excellent heat retention. Medium cover: more comfortable use, larger interior space. High cover: can be used as a covered relaxation area or terrace, so you don't have to give up swimming in cooler or rainy weather. Tip: Think about whether you use the pool exclusively for swimming, or whether you want to be able to move around and relax comfortably under the cover. 3. What color should you choose? Most people focus on the size of the pool and the shape of the cover, but the color is just as important. A premium pool cover will be part of the garden all year round, so it is worth choosing a shade that harmonizes with the style of the house, the windows and doors, or even the fence. In recent years, medium gray and anthracite have clearly become the most popular choices, as they fit well with both modern and classic homes. These are the basic colors in the Aquacrom range, but if required, we can make the pool cover in any shade of the RAL color scale to perfectly match your home. 4. Should I choose a single-rail or double-rail pool cover? Less is sometimes more… but not always. Single-rail pool covers are becoming increasingly popular due to their clean appearance, as the cover only runs on a rail on one side, while special silicone rollers on the other side ensure easy movement on the cover. However, this solution can only be used for super flat and flat pool covers, and is typically recommended for widths up to 5.5 meters. For larger, higher or curved covers, a double-rail system is required for proper stability. The appropriate rail system is therefore not only determined by aesthetic considerations, but also by the size of the pool and the selected cover type. 5. Clear or air-chamber polycarbonate? It is not only the thermal insulation that matters. At first, many people think that air-filled polycarbonate is a better choice, as its thermal insulation properties are slightly better. In practice, however, this difference is minimal and is almost imperceptible during everyday use. In contrast, clear, solid polycarbonate provides a cleaner, more elegant appearance, while the cells of the air-filled version may become discolored over time due to trapped moisture, which can cause aesthetic loss. It is no coincidence that after consultations, the vast majority of our customers ultimately decide in favor of clear polycarbonate. Clear or air-filled polycarbonate? Ultimately, it is not the profiles, the rails or the type of polycarbonate that will matter. It is much more about the moments you spend by the pool. The summer mornings with clear water. The evening baths when the weather doesn't matter. The peace and quiet when the children play carefree in the garden. We work to ensure that you get as many of these moments as possible.
